Verification and AML
We verify every player so that real money moves only between genuine adults through legitimate channels. This page explains the checks involved, the documents we may ask for, and how we meet our duties under Canadian anti-money laundering rules.
Why does Surrey Casino verify my identity?
Verification keeps you and other players safe and protects the integrity of our cashier.
We only accept players located where local law allows online play, and we comply with Canadian requirements on anti-money laundering, age verification and identity checks. Identity verification stops underage gambling, fraud and account takeover, and prevents criminal funds from entering our games. Verification is completed ahead of your first deposit, so later withdrawals by Interac e-Transfer, Visa or Instadebit are processed without delay.
Will I need to show where my money comes from?
For larger or unusual activity, we ask where your funds come from.
If your deposits are high compared with your profile, or your pattern of play changes sharply, we may request evidence of where the money came from. Examples include recent payslips, a bank statement, proof of a property sale or an inheritance document. We ask only for what is needed, and we treat the material in line with our Your Privacy page.
Do you continue to monitor my account after I sign up?
Yes, every account is monitored throughout the time it stays open.
Our systems examine deposits, withdrawals and betting activity for signs of risk. These include rapid cycling of funds with minimal play, use of many payment methods, and mismatches between an account holder and the payment owner. Flagged activity is assessed by our compliance team, who may contact you for more information.
What records do we keep, and what must be reported?
Records are retained for the period Canadian law requires, and we file reports whenever the law obliges us to.
Verification documents, transaction histories and account notes are held securely. Any suspected money laundering or terrorist financing must be reported to the appropriate Canadian authority. The law prohibits us from disclosing to a player when a report of this kind has been filed.
How do you confirm my age and identity?
We compare the details you give at sign-up against official documents.
At registration, we collect your full legal name, birth date and home address, which together show that you are 19 or older. We may also request:
- Identity: a driver's licence, a valid passport or a provincial photo ID card
- Address: a bank statement or utility bill issued recently, showing your current home address
- Payment method ownership: a picture of your card with its middle digits hidden, or an e-wallet screenshot showing your name
All documents must be valid, clear, in colour and shown in full. Submit them in your account or email them to us.
Do you screen for politically exposed persons?
All players are checked against official watchlists.
Under Canadian rules, politically exposed persons, their relatives and their close associates are treated as higher risk, and we screen for each of these groups. We also check every player against Canadian and international sanctions lists. A positive match does not lead to an automatic ban, but enhanced checks must be completed before play or withdrawals can resume.
What happens if verification fails?
Without completed checks, account activity stays restricted.
Until verification is finished, deposits and withdrawals remain paused. We close the account if documents are missing, altered or inconsistent, or if fraud, a minor or a sanctions match is confirmed. Winnings tied to breaches of our Terms of Service or Offer Rules are void, and we may share information with authorities where the law requires it.
